Vocus Communications' underwater cable man swims off (AFR) - The man who was supposed to lead Vocus Communications' Perth to Singapore underwater cable has left the company, sources told Street Talk. It is understood Raj Jayawardena, who was hired by former Vocus executive James Spenceley to oversee the project and head up carrier relations, is off to greener pastures along with about 20 other Vocus employees who were made redundant in the past three weeks. Jayawardena was well regarded in telecommunications circles. Vocus poached him from Nextgen Networks to run its Australia-Singapore Cable (ASC).
