    Leighton Holdings Limited (ASX:LEI) has commenced construction on the Wynn Cotai project in Macau, working on the first stage of the project.



    The first component of works is valued at $222 million.



    The entire project includes construction of a luxury hotel and gaming, dining, retail and convention facilities, as well as numerous specialist attractions.



    CEO Hamish Tyrwhitt says the construction agreement with Wynn demonstrates Leighton’s significance in the regions building sector.



    Leighton Holdings generated a net profit of $106 million in the 2012 financial year.
