Almost $100m incoming for LLL. But for what purpose?
FFX holding in LLL currently valued at around $100m.
Is it possible for LLL to buy back FFX's 17% holding and cancel them, thereby increasing potential value of LLL shares.
With LLL last trading around 50c, there may be value to LLL shareholders to get rid of this connection to FFX. As an FFX holder also, I would consider it as an opportunistic proposal by Leo but I hold more LLL by value so would be prepared to accept such a deal if there was a guarantee any cash for the sale of LLL shares was distributed in full to shareholders.
I don't even know if a buyback of shares from another company would be acceptable or fall foul of ASIC escrow rules.
Food for thought maybe.
It is interesting that the structure of the current 5% sale isn't for GF to fund more of the project as the last deal but a pure sale by LLL of 5% of their stake. For what purpose?
