According to this article in Science Direct dated 15th August 2023 there is almost 100 million tons of ferronickel slag stockpiled throughout the world. I believe there is a significant stockpile in New Caledonia. And even if the MOU with Societè Le Nickel falls through (which I don’t believe it will) there is a massive surplus stockpile of ferronickel slag elsewhere so I don’t think obtaining the source material is going to be a major problem imo. It’s also likely that beyond the time Stage 2 is built in Malaysia in 5 years, there will be an upswing in nickel demand as like most metals it is a cyclical commodity
