absolutely nonesense. no armoured vehicles of any variety(APC/IFV/AFV/MBT/PMV) will go electric in the next 20 years.
here’s a few reasons:
-power to weight, it’s one thing to power a small passenger vehicle, what about a 68t tank? The power/torque requirements are massive, an M1A1/2 Abrams uses 2,000L fuel in an 8 hour period, batteries would last 10 minutes trying to power it.
-recharge times, armoured vehicles are vulnerable during resupply, and cannot afford to sit idle for extended periods to refuel.
-vehicle range, AFVs need to have a 7-800km range, or 72-96 operating timeframe to refueling, they won’t be able to fit sufficient sized batteries to achieve anything near that, and the battery wait required to achieve any level of functional power storage will weigh tons
we won’t see electric armoured fighting vehicles for decades.
