Whatever the motivation of GR .....
The writing of the the reporter (Tim Bond) is crap. ... pity they cant get their facts and understanding correct.
    He writes
”Hancock surpassing the 11 per cent threshold complicates things for Albemarle, as 90 per cent ownership is the benchmark entitling a stakeholder to compulsorily acquire the remainder of shares.”

Wrong! The ALB deal is pitched as a SOA .... The facts of a SOA deal are, If its approved the proponent gets 100% of the target. no ifs, buts or blocking stake to prevent compulsory acquisition of shares is possible.
To scuttle the deal at SOA meeting one needs more (share) votes than 10% to defeat at least one of the 2 required conditions.

My gripe is the poor quality and factually incorrect material some of these financial journalists spew out.
No wonder some are petrified they could be replaced by AI morons..... who probably might churn out a better quality analysis.
