News: LTR UPDATE 1-Australia's Liontown produces first spodumene at Kathleen Valley lithium project

July 31 (Reuters) - Australian lithium miner Liontown Resources (LTR) said on Wednesday it has produced spodumene concentrate at its new flagship Kathleen Valley project and plans its first shipment in the latter part of the current quarter.

Liontown said it aims for a production rate of 3 million metric tons a year by the end of the first quarter of 2025.

"The plant has been designed and constructed to the highest quality using Tier-1 equipment, engineers, and contractors, to deliver future cost competitiveness through improved reliability and better maintainability," the miner said in a statement.

Liontown said it will focus on finishing the remaining non-critical areas of the plant while increasing production as scheduled.
