One of Biden's tasks to visit Asia this week is to sell Indo-Pacific Economic Framework (IPEF), which was probably also promoted by US- ASEAN Summit in Whitehouse last week. There is no magnet supply chain ( which is critical for global green shift though) in US. It is probably Japan's task because of Japan's tech and good relationship with low labor cost South Asian countries. US may use tariff and other tools like import quote , carbon tax, sustainable production, labor rights, etc. to secure a level playing field for ROW to grow its own magnet ecosystem. Indo-Pacific area is Biden's one of the most important priorities for geopolitical and economic competition with China.
