Here’s the translation. They’ll NEVER stop the lies. As I’ve said before, Lynas simply MUST take legal action now. There’s ample evidence that this is libelous...

‘NGOs report ...Lynas claims water sources pollution
    Malaysiakini 6:59 pm (18Jun?)

Lynas (SMSL) has lodged a police report today that Lynas Malaysia's plant is responsible for underground water pollution in Gebeng, Kuantan. They said this was based on data disclosed in the executive committee reviewing the Lynas published in December 2018 to test between 2016 to 2018 and the Department of Environment's review and water sampling tests made by the NGO since 2016.

"Because the regulatory authorities do not take any action and have exhibited their own rules even though data clearly shows the opposite, we have no choice but to act in the interest of our country and society. "We have lodged a police report because we have been waiting for more than a year since the change of government to enable the regulatory authorities to carry out its duties to enforce the law. "Unfortunately, there is no improvement in the Department of Environment, they have done nothing to investigate the pollution and wastewater under the standard released by Lynas. "Instead, they continue to praise Lynas publicly at public forums or through the media, SMSL chairman Tan Bun Teet after lodging a police report today in Kuantan.

SMSL legal adviser, Hon Kai Ping states that water pollution, including groundwater, is an offense under the Water Services Industry Act. Water pollution, Hon said again is a national security issue and the authorities should pay serious attention. "No industry or business anywhere in Malaysia can escape from being charged with stacks of waste from its factory," said SMSL. They remind the Pakatan Harapan government about the election promises that all projects affecting the environment must meet the highest standards of environmental protection and are based on international best practice.

SMSL quoted a report by the executive committee to study Lynas, claiming that groundwater in the Gebeng area around the Lynas plant was polluted with toxic heavy metals such as nickel, lead, chromium and mercury. However, at the end of May this year, the Minister of Water Resources, Land and Natural Resources Dr Xavier Jayakumar said groundwater in Gebeng was no longer polluted with heavy metals.

Although the ministry said it was ready to publish its findings, the Department of Environment has yet to respond to various requests from Malaysiakini to get the data.
