I’ve got this vague recollection from the time the LAMP was commissioned that the Australian government wouldn’t necessarily accept the WLP waste back. While the concentrate may originate from Australia, it was Lynas decision to build the plant in Malaysia and it effectively becomes Malaysian waste from the Malaysian plant. I’m not familiar with the Australian regulations on this topic, but where is the incentive for Australia to accept waste product from another country? Agree the waste is benign, but there may still be uncertainty on government approvals.
