That's some terrible reporting. 750,000 tpa Dy/Tb?!?!?! LOL.
Two excerpts from ILU announcement:
• Total rare earth oxide (TREO) capacity of 17.5 thousand tonnes per annum (1)
The note (1): TREO plant capacity is 23ktpa with all circuits fully utilised.
Modelled plant capacity based on various feed blends is 17.5ktpa.
Roughly 30% NdPr or 0.3 x 17,500 = 5,250 tpa NdPr (which agrees fairly well with the 5500 tpa that the news report claims), which is half the 10,500 tpa NdPr that Lynas will supply Japanese partners with.
Roughly 1/10th of that is an approximation of Dy, so 525 tpa, not 750,000. Terbium about 1/5th of that or an additional 105 tpa, for a final 630 tpa; very likely the author added three zeroes, so the actual value might be 750 tpa Dy/Tb.
The financial arrangement is unusual, I would say.
