KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 24 (Reuters) - Malaysia said on Tuesday it will allow Australia's Lynas Rare Earths (LYC) to import raw materials that contain natural radioactive material until March 2026.

The update to Lynas' operating license will allow the firm's cracking and leaching activities to continue subject to conditions, Malaysia's Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation said in a statement.

Malaysia has in recent years raised concerns about radiation levels from Lynas' cracking and leaching operations.

The announcement comes after Lynas, the world's largest producer of rare earths outside China, said last week it planned to shut all operations in Malaysia on a temporary basis, except a mixed rare earth carbonate processing plant in the December quarter.
