There is some evidence for the pilot hijacking the plane, mainly centred around the track on his home simulator and the unusual flight path taken by the plane. There's also the switching off of the transponder after signing off at IGARI.

The ATSB have shown pretty conclusively that the plane ran out of fuel during flight and crashed from a substantial height. One or two pieces of the internal part of the plane was found on an African beach. This suggests the plane is not in one piece.

Also the waves at the point where the plane crashed would have been around 2-3m because a small cold front was passing through the area at the time, this would've made it impossible to land the plane in one piece.
