Its pretty clear that it ran out of fuel. There was an attempted log on onto the satellite just before it crashed. The most likely way for this to occur if the plane ran out of fuel (which causes a loss of power) and then a wind based turbine is automatically deployed to generate emergency power. This inturn generates a satellite logon sequence which is what they saw in the sat data. There is also the fuel burn rate and how much fuel was onboard, these approximately match to how long the plane was flying.

They have found 4 pieces from the right side of the plane (flaperon, outboard flap, flap track flaring, horizontal stabiliser panel) and one piece from the left side (outboard flap trailing edge). There is also the engine cowling, closet panel and one interior panel. There are about 20 odd other pieces, including a back panel off a seat which could have housed a monitor.

I think different "experts" disagree over the whether the flaps were extended or not, each person sees something different and interprets it differently.
