This was not a change of legislation, or even a retrospective change of legislation - simply an illegal decision. What is being proposed by the Greens would simply be a law change. The only effect would be to make MEL's existing licenses more valuable, and see future investment either offshore or in another sector. That said, given the current gas shortage it would be political suicide for Labor to agree to it...so nothing really to talk about imho.
