Metcash Ltd (ASX:MTS) has announced the appointment of a new director, with Fiona Balfour to step into the role at the board's next meeting on 25 November this year.
The grocery and hardware wholesaler says Ms Balfour will bring skills from a range of roles, including positions held at Telstra, Qantas and Medibank Private.
Chairman Peter Barnes advises Mrs Balfour has over 30 years of experience across the aviation, telecommunications, health administration, financial services and education industries.
In the 2010 financial year Metcash says it booked its eleventh consecutive record profit.
Metcash posted a profit of $230.3 million in the year to 30 April 2010.
