Trump tax cuts won't mean you will outperform because the index itself will go up. (If they cut taxes and maintain the same deficit that will mean less gov spending which will lead to lower aggregate demand which will hurt business at the same time. Unless they increase the deficit to allow for the tax cuts whilst maintaining spending in the economy)
You might match the index you might beat it by a small amount which is very good, but you can't expect a fund of this size and growing to outperform materially for a long period of time.
In the long run if you just match the index all the adviser will look towards indexes instead. I think they already know that which is why these other products are coming out.
