migme limited (ASX:MIG), formerly Latin Gold Limited, has signed a series of partnerships with leading telecommunication and retail distribution providers in Indonesia to expand its mobile social entertainment platform.
Indonesia is a leading emerging smartphone market with more than 285 million mobile subscriptions and more than 50 million active social media mobile users.
Under the distribution agreements, which will come into effect in the December 2014 quarter, the migme social entertainment platform will be either preinstalled or side loaded on its partners’ smartphone shipments for Indonesia.
The company is partnering with telecommunications company Smartfren to reach more than 12 million subscribers via their Andromax handset as well as telecommunications provider Spice Global to reach an additional and growing channel of handsets.
On the mobile retail distribution side, migme will partner with leading PT Trikomsel Oke Tbk to gain access to its 1,200 stores across Indonesia.
migme is also expanding its development capabilities and plans to establish a team in Taipei this quarter, with a view of deepening ties to the Taiwanese mobile handset ecosystem.
The migme platform originally evolved as a low cost SMS and mobile chat alternative in 2006.
It now offers chat to a microblogging platform with virtual gifts, games and a growing portfolio of social entertainment.
The platform currently has an average of more than 5 million users per month and growing.
migme has more than US$10 million in cash following its merger with Latin Gold and successful re-listing on the ASX on 11 November.
