WELLINGTON, Aug 31 (Reuters) - New Zealand business sentiment was largely unchanged in August but firms were more optimistic about their own businesses as investment and employment intentions rose, an ANZ Bank survey showed on Wednesday.

The survey's headline measure showed a net 15.5 percent of respondents expected the economy to improve over the year ahead. It compared with a 16.0 percent optimism level in the previous poll.

A net 33.7 percent of respondents expected their own businesses to grow in the next 12 months, from 31.4 percent last month.

Inflation expectations eased slightly to 1.44 percent compared with 1.49 percent in the previous survey.
