The pet business is insanely competitive. If you couldn't turn a profit over the last couple of years you're in for a world of hurt from here. I see Pet Circle has some issues too, but it has some well funded backers. It's the classic case of everyone sees a lot of demand and says "yes, me too" and the market gets swamped with supply. Difficult to see how MPA survives as a stand alone company when it is loss making with $4m in the bank.
