Aug 9 (Reuters) - The following bids, mergers, acquisitions and disposals were reported by 0955 GMT on Tuesday:
**Capricorn Energy CNE.L investor Palliser has called on the firm to ditch a proposed merger with Tullow Oil TLW.L after describing the deal as "one-sided" and short of "meaningful strategic rationale", a letter seen by Reuters showed.
**Warren Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway Inc BRKa.N bought more shares of Occidental Petroleum Corp OXY.N , surpassing the 20% stake where it could record some of the oil company's earnings with its own and potentially add billions of dollars of profit.
**Brazilian power company AES Brasil Energia SA AESB3.SA reached a deal with Cubico Brasil SA to acquire three wind farms, the company said on Monday.
**Pfizer Inc PFE.N on Monday agreed to pay $5.4 billion in cash for sickle cell disease drugmaker Global Blood Therapeutics GBT.O , as it looks to capitalize on a surge in revenue from its COVID-19 vaccine and treatment.
**Avalara Inc AVLR.N said on Monday it has agreed to be acquired by private equity firm Vista Equity Partners in a deal that values the tax automation software platform at $8.4 billion including debt, one of the largest take-private deals this year as the M&A market slows down.
**Axios has agreed to sell itself to Cox Enterprises in a deal that values the digital media firm at $525 million, a source familiar with the matter said on Monday.
**French utility company Veolia VIE.PA confirmed it would sell Suez's UK waste business to Australia's Macquarie Group Ltd (MQG) for around 2.4 billion euros ($2.4 billion), a deal aimed at resolving antitrust concerns.
**United Parcel Service Inc UPS.N said on Monday it would buy Italy-based healthcare logistics firm Bomi Group to bolster its capability in delivering medicines that require cold storage.
**Home appliance maker Whirlpool Corp WHR.N said on Monday it would buy Emerson Electric Co's EMR.N InSinkErator unit, which makes waste disposal equipment and hot water dispensers, for $3 billion to beef up its kitchen equipment offerings.
**Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari has granted consent to the acquisition of Exxon Mobil's XOM.N Nigerian unit by Seplat Energy SEPLAT.LG , in a $1.28 billion deal announced in February.
