    Silvio Berlusconi, the billionaire media mogul and former Italian prime minister who transformed the nation's politics with polarising policies and often alarmed his allies with his brazen remarks, died on Monday aged 86.

    COMPANIES MFE-MEDIAFOREUROPE MFEB.MI News of former Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi's death on Monday sent shares in his family media company soaring, fitting a pattern of market reaction to updates on his worsening health in recent months.

    The Berlusconi family holding company Fininvest said in a statement that operations keep going forward in continuity with the legacy of its founder.

    (*) TELECOM ITALIA (TIM) TLIT.MI Il Corriere della Sera daily reported on Tuesday that broadband provider Open Fiber may be split into two, with less profitable "grey" and "white" areas handed to Italian state lender CDP and more profitable "black" areas assigned to Macquarie (MQG) , as part of efforts to remove antitrust problems linked to the CDP-Macquarie bid for TIM's landline grid assets.

    (*) BANCA MEDIOLANUM BMED.MI The CEO of the Italian bank Massimo Doris told Tuesday's Il Sole 24 Ore newspaper that he met Berlusconi and his children two weeks ago and they told him that they had no intention to change anything in the company's shareholding structure.

    The Berlusconi family holding Fininvest is the second-largest shareholder in Banca Mediolanum, with a 30% stake.

    (*) ITALGAS IG.MI Italy's biggest gas distributor said on Monday it would postpone from June 13 to June 15 a board of directors meeting due to approve a new 2023-2029 industrial plan, due to the national day of mourning due to be observed on June 14 for the death of ex-premier Silvio Berlusconi.

    (*) ENEL ENEI.MI New CEO Flavio Cattaneo announced on Monday a management shake-up, appointing Stefano De Angelis as CFO, former IREN CEO Gianni Vittorio Armani as head of its Enel Grids division and Francesco Puntillo as Head of Legal and Corporate Affairs.

    (*) IREN IREE.MI The CEO of the regional utility, Gianni Vittorio Armani, resigned on Monday to take on his new position at Enel. According to Tuesday's Il Sole 24 Ore newspaper, former Telecom Italia manager Stefano Siragusa, former Terna CEO Stefano Donnarumma and former A2A CEO Valerio Camerano are among the candidates to succeed him.

    MONTE DEI PASCHI DI SIENA BMPS.MI , BPER Banca EMII.MI State-owned Monte dei Paschi di Siena does not need a rescue buyer, but like other mid-sized Italian banks needs to grow instead to serve Italy's interests, its CEO Luigi Lovaglio said on Monday.

    Lovaglio made the comments at an event organised by Italy's main banking union FABI, shortly after the head of BPER Banca reiterated that his bank had no interest in buying MPS.
