MZI Resources (ASX:MZI) is progressing development of the Keysbrook Mineral Sands Project in Western Australia and has appointed Rodney Baxter as a non-executive director.
Baxter has over 25 years’ experience in the global resources and engineering services sectors, including 10 years in mineral sands.
He was most recently the managing director of Calibre Group (ASX:SGH) where he led the company’s transition from a project services business to an ASX-listed, diversified project delivery and asset management services company.
Prior to his role at Calibre, Baxter was the managing director of Consolidated Minerals where he was integral in diversifying the company’s commodity exposure into copper, zinc and tungsten through strategic investments in Jabiru Resources and Vital Metals (ASX:VML).
In addition to his corporate experience, Baxter will bring extensive technical expertise in mineral sands to the MZI board.
Development of Keysbrook was 44% complete at the end of March 2015, against a planned 43%.
The project is on track to commence commissioning in November 2015 with first sales scheduled for early 2016, producing over 95,000 tonnes of leucoxene and zircon products annually.
All long lead time equipment on order and on schedule.
