Aussie banks received ridiculously generous easy monetary support during COVID, as did most banks around the world, which we are now paying for in higher inflation. ONly half story is tight supply, easy money the other. The NIM gains from banks this year were never going to be that big, from a great starting point they stood at via the RBA term funding facility scheme.
