NBN Co has chosen Leighton Holdings Limited (ASX:LEI) and Service Stream Limited (ASX:SSM) to work on the national broadband network rollout, awarding contracts worth about $183 million.
Leighton Holdings' Visionstream has secured a $102 million contract to design and construct broadband fibre across Victoria and Queensland.
Service Stream has secured an $81 million contract for work in New South Wales, South Australia, Western Australia and the Northern Territory.
NBN Co says the contracts will provide additional rollout capacity and support a new approach to the management of fibre deployment in new estates.
Leighton Holdings posted a net profit $345 million in the first half of the 2012 financial year.
