July 22 (Reuters) - Australia's Newcrest Mining Ltd (NCM) on Thursday posted a 5.4% drop in fourth-quarter gold output, hurt by a weak performance at its Lihir mine in Papua New Guinea due to unplanned downtime.
Australia's biggest listed gold miner said production fell to 542,332 ounces in the June quarter from 573,175 ounces a year ago. However, the company beat an RBC Capital Markets estimate of around 531,000 ounces.
