New Hope Corporation Limited (ASX:NHC) has confirmed that it has received a number of preliminary takeover proposals and is continuing talks to sell the company.
The Queensland coal producer put itself up for sale last month and invited more offers from interested buyers.
In its quarterly activities report New Hope says it remains in confidential and incomplete discussions with several third parties.
The formal process has moved to the second stage and is expected to take several months.
In the 2011 financial year New Hope Corporation posted a net profit to $503 million.
