WELLINGTON, Nov 15 (Reuters) - Growth in New Zealand's services sector rose in October, driven by strong tourism and local spending, a survey showed on Tuesday.

The Bank of New Zealand-Business NZ's seasonally adjusted performance of services index (PSI) rose 2.1 points from the previous month to 56.3.

A reading above 50 indicates expansion in activity. "Strong results right across the distribution sector is more evidence of buoyant domestic spending and a booming tourism industry," BNZ senior economist Doug Steel said in a statement accompanying the release.

Last week, a manufacturing survey (PMI) for October fell to 55.2 from 57.5 the previous month, still well above its long-term average of 53.2 percent.
