I think the volume today was actually the Newmont shares making their way into the market. There will probably be a tick up in trading volume for some time.
I don't think the director sale is related. I think the director selling and Newmont selling is simply a common independent acknowledgement that the share price has limited upside in the short term, barring any further moves in the gold price. Broker valuations are all at or below the current price too.
