News Corp (ASX:NWS) is reportedly axing about 50 jobs at its online publication The Daily, which was established last year to cater for mobile digital users.
According to media reports, the media company says the redundancies reflect the changing business environment for news and media.
News Corp says sports news will now be sourced from content partner Fox Sports.
The news follows the company’s recent announcement that it will separate its media and entertainment assets from its publishing divisions to create two publicly traded companies.
In the first half of the 2012 financial year News Corp posted a net profit of $1.9 billion.
