WELLINGTON, Oct 13 (Reuters) - Manufacturing activity in New Zealand inched lower in September, a survey showed on Friday, but remained at solid levels.

The Bank of New Zealand-Business NZ's seasonally adjusted Performance of Manufacturing Index (PMI) dipped to 57.5 in September - the month of an inconclusive general election - from 57.9 in August.

That was comfortably above its long-term average of 53.4 and well over the 50 threshold, which indicates an expansion in activity.
