Well HOORAY. About time. Certainly there has been a gradual build up in attempts to get the tanker loads through in recent weeks. The level of engagement with the barricaders has been going up a notch at each attempt until finally 100 police in riot gear managed to provide the opportunity to clear the way.
Of course as is typical of these protesters there are plenty of examples of yelling and putting on a show as though they were being man handled and treated roughly. As can be easily seen in the video footage there is no substance to that angle. The police were acting very calmly and were moving the people to one side with limited use of force. No baton charges.
So while I had suggested at one stage that a bulldozer could do a good job in the end the use of the constabulary has achieved a satisfactory result and Oceanagold can now get on with using the diesel supplies as required.
Roll on the FTAA. About time that OGC had some good news.
