Shares in gold miner Focus Minerals were higher after the company released encouraging results from surface rock chip sampling at its Treasure Island project in the Eastern Goldfields.
The company said recent sampling over 200 metres of strike had returned gold mineralisation of up to 58.9 grams per tonne.
Focus chief executive Campbell Baird said the results provided further evidence that Treasure Island could host a significant outcropping high-grade gold resource.
The company planned an extensive aeromagnetic survey of the area to build a clearer picture of its exploration potential and identify further targets for drilling.
Treasure Island is part of Focus Minerals' Lake Cowan gold-copper project 50km southeast of Kambalda.
Shares in Focus were up 0.3 cents, or 6 per cent, to 5.3 cents at 9.20am after hitting an earlier peak of 5.4 cents.
