Horseshoe Metals announced that it has extended a new zone of copper mineralization along strike and down dip from previous high grade copper intersections at its 100% owned Horseshoe Lights Project.
The results from the phase 3 drilling program extend the copper mineralization zone by more than 50 meters and to depths of about 200 meters. Impressively, twelve of the fourteen holes drilled in the North West Stringer Zone area intersected copper mineralization.
Highlights include:
1. 12 meters at 2.3% copper including 4 meters at 4.7% Cu with a peak intersection of 1 meters at 6.4% Cu;
2. 16 meters at 1.8% Cu including 10 meters at 2.5% Cu;
3. 5 meters at 1.6% Cu including 1 meters at 3.9% Cu and 17 meters at 1.2% Cu including 1 meters at 2.5%, 1 meter at 3.3% Cu and 1 meter 3.2%.
Horseshoe completed 15 reverse circulation percussion drill holes totalling 3,110 meters in the period March 12th to April 2nd 2011. Fourteen holes were drilled in the vicinity of the North West Stringer Zone whilst one hole was drilled to test a shallow conductor identified from the November 2010 VTEM survey.
The Horseshoe Lights VHMS Cu Au project is located in the highly prospective Bryah Basin, in Western Australia and is 75 kilometers west northwest of Sandfire Resources NL?s Doolgunna Cu Au project. Prior to the commencement of drilling by Horseshoe in 2010, the project had no exploration since the 1990?s and Horseshoe believes that systematic drilling, combined with the application of modern EM geophysical methods, can upgrade the known resources and may lead to new discoveries in the mine area.
The drilling program was undertaken in an area north of the former mine?s open pit and was primarily designed to test along strike from and down dip of, high grade intersections from the Phase 2 drilling program completed in November 2010.
A review of recently completed Fixed Loop Time-Domain Electromagnetic survey results will precede next phase of drilling. There will also be an updated geological assessment. Horseshoe Lights has an Inferred mineral resource of 4.9 million tonnes at 1.0% Copper containing 48,000 tonnes of copper. The company is known to be bullish on the exploration potential within the tenement area with only limited exploration undertaken in the past.
