Yes, a bitter let down. Below is an open letter to Mr. Scott and I dare him to reply:
"Mr. Scott,
How is it that on the 26th June 2008, the directors informed the market that a dividend would be paid and yet today you have seen fit to announce no dividend? I quote:
"CommQuest expects to release its results for the period ending 30 June 2008 in late August 2008, and reaffirms its intention to declare a dividend of 2 cents per share, in line with the prospectus forecast."
Nonwithstanding the reasonable results, I am at a loss as to how to interpret this outcome. On one hand it could be seen as an outright lie and on the other, knowing that conditions were harsh (hence the profit downgrade at that time), it could be seen as simply being misleading or incompetent. It could not be seen, under any circumstances, as an honest "mistake".
Management or the board have mislead SH's and the market and regardless of the state of the company today you were obliged to stick to your prospectus and announcements as closely as possible or to signal a change ASAP based on known circumstances, in a timely manner.
Those of us accumulating based on YOUR announcements have been seriously and I feel deliberately mislead/misinformed.
A question all SH must now ask themselves now is "what's next"?
Yours disrespectfully,
A shareholder."
