Understand that it might make monetary business sense to keep the dividend, but it doesn't make sense when your credibility is at stake.
I've been defending CQU on HC based on their announcements and now the rampers can turn-around and say I told you so - SH's won't ever hear the end of it ( or at least until a dividend is paid).
Also, it is not just about survival. If we want the sp to improve, management must stick to plan and keep their credibility intact. For example, almost everything else CQU predicted has happened - profit wise it came in about right, acquisition wise they have executed to plan, but could they return a dividend, NO! But, they did manage to dilute SH value - without informing the market! ( I ask myself why and it is obvious, they needed the sp to stay "high" for their placement.
So, management get more options (eventually - just wait for it), more bonuses and SH get diddly squat.
CQU might be a good business, but I feel lied to and mislead and I don't invest in companies that mislead SH's.
