Yep, when crappy reports come in of September European airlines flying at 103% of their capacity in early January 2020 and the U.S. airlines at 88%. So that would be comparing chalk (end of summer holidays) with cheese (depths of winter).
The reality is TSA reported 1.4 million travellers on 19 October vs 2.1 million in 2019. They are running about 3/4 rates even in the US which embraced travel far quicker.
Ryan Air flew 10.6 million people in September. It flew 14.1 million in Septmeber 2019.
Joyce will be flying half empty airlines if he returns to 100% domestic capacity of pre-COVID in January, given re-open trends and Australia's unique state to state circumstances and policies.
