Lol Tony , a story from a hack journo who has probably been refused an upgrade on a Qantas flight at some time
in the past . People like to say Qantas got rid of all these poor employees when in truth the vast majority of us voluntarily took redundancy packages , the same people like to claim Qantas was gifted billions in government handouts whereas in truth QF was renumerated for freight flights that they ran for the agricultural and fisheries sectors and exporting AUSTRALIAN goods around the world ( which by the way probably saved the government more billions by keeping those sectors working and giving the companies an income to be able to pay there employees a weekly wage without needing jobkeeper payments ) and several billion of government money was paid to Qantas EMPLOYEES ( not to Qantas Airways ) to keep them going thru Covid restrictions in exactly the same way that MILLIONS of other Australians were given Jobkeeper payments and so was not exclusive only to Qantas workers. I couldn't give a damn about what anyone here thinks of Qantas as it is a personal opinion thing but lets not pretend that Qantas was exclusively helped out during Covid as there were thousands of businesses assisted in one form or another .
