SINGAPORE, Aug 25 (Reuters) - Qantas Airways Ltd (QAN) will spend a year working with Airbus SE AIR.PA and Boeing Co BA.N evaluating the capabilities of the A350 and 777X aircraft before issuing a tender for an order that would allow for 20-hour non-stop Sydney-London flights, its Chief Executive said on Friday.
"We think it will take the next year to work through the capabilities and technical ability of the aircraft to see if they can do that technical mission, an important mission, and then we go through a tendering process," the Australian carrier's CEO, Alan Joyce, told Reuters in a phone interview.
