The question is can the Baby Boomers increase their travel spend as quickly as the mortgage holders taper their travel habits. I think not. This may be as good as it gets for Qantas and still no dividend. Jetstar may be the the first sign of a slowdown in months to come as increasing interest rates bite into mortgage holders disposable cash. We will just need to wait and see, high interest rates are here to stay for quite a while. History dictates airlines in general do not do well in recessionary times.
