Funny, to be so myopic about and looking at 1 side of the coin.

Just ask the simple question as to why, when the union was ONLY EVER asking for 3%, why they would turn to industrial action.

It's because Qantas management have gone out of their way to destroy the work available for the unionised workforce. Gone out of their way to make redundant a workforce that has served them more then well over the entirety of the Qantas existence. The fact that Qantas chooses to offshore capital to foreign adventures making the local domesitc and international operation unfundable, and requiring that Australians be put out of work as a result is a disgrace considering the facility, the workplace, the infrastructure was PAID FOR by the taxpayer when Qantas was privatised. Disgusting.

Yes it is a private company, albeit constrained by the Qantas Sale Act and the union is not so stupid to ignore that fact, but IF the management had chosen to be somewhat constructive instead of destructive with their workplace relations, it would not be a somber result. It would be impressive.

Watch the militancy of the unionist in the 2nd half of this clip. Listen to the facts.
