Reserve Bank of New Zealand Deputy Governor Christian Hawkesby said on Friday that there was a lot of uncertainty and with core inflation high and sticky it left very little margin of error if inflation pressures come through higher than expected.
"Demand's been exceeding supply for some time, those inflation pressures have been building, we do need a period of very subdued spending," Hawkesby said.
