WELLINGTON, Aug 30 (Reuters) - Reserve Bank of New Zealand (RBNZ) Governor Graeme Wheeler reiterated on Wednesday that a lower New Zealand dollar was needed to increase tradable inflation and help deliver more balanced growth.

Wheeler made the comments in a speech reflecting on his five-year term as governor before he steps down on Sept 26.

The New Zealand currency fell to $0.7241 on the U.S. dollar from $0.7263, after the central bank released the speech on its website.
