That's OK. A 5 year payback is not too bad. Panels have something like a 20-25 year life (all going well) and so will need replacing in the future. Storage batteries' lifetime is probably shorter. There will be some maintenance costs along the way too, most likely. For RED with a commercial scale installation that involves cleaning the panels regularly because of dust and dirt build up and damage from time to time.
For you, the property resale aspect is understandable.
