As for the Royal Commission, all that can happen is that more money will flow into the sector to improve levels of care. Nationalization - nope. Take a look at the differential between pay and conditions between a state-run hospital and every aged care facility in the country - absolutely no comparison. Costs would blow out further with no guarantee of better care. Furthermore, local and state facilities are more poorly run than all for and non-for-profit providers (see Stewart Brown). There will be no push for the government to get more involved in the running of facilities. They will use tech like PCK to monitor the sector more - hence their $10 million grant.
