I would hope that OZL, if it had to relocate families, would do with the same engagement and compensation that would occur in Aust. I would expect OZL to make sure that the families are better off in any move that may occur and that it becomes a win/win.
Mining in any community requires community support. As Leon Davis quoted in The Australian today "Mining companies have long recognised the importance of maintaining the goodwill of the communities in which they operate. This is not just because it is the proper thing to do -- which it is -- but because it makes good business sense. The two are not mutually exclusive."
I would sincerely hope OZL remembers this. We do NOT want another OK Tedi or Bougainvillea Copper being played out.
