My opinion has always been keep an eye on store numbers and franchisee numbers. You will find that these numbers have continued to decline for many many years and at a rapid rate. The franchise system is a scale game due to its fixed cost base and the franchisors ability to change additional fees etc when new franchisees sign up. Add in the significant brand damage and that a lot of franchises are on the nose. Not an easy turn around.
