SANTIAGO, Aug 13 (Reuters) - The union at BHP's Escondida copper mine in Chile, which initiated a strike on Tuesday, said it is willing to resume talks with the company to end the strike.
It added in a statement that it had received information that company management was replacing workers who had walked out, calling them "illegal replacements," in violation of the strike terms. The mine is the world's biggest copper producer.
