News: RIO UPDATE 1-UK Stocks-Factors to watch on Oct. 14

Oct 14 (Reuters) - Britain's FTSE 100 .FTSE index is seen opening higher on Friday, with futures FFIc1 up 1.2%.

• ROYAL MAIL: Royal Mail could cut as many as 5,000 to 6,000 jobs by the end of August next year, parent company International Distributions Services IDSI.L said, as the British company remains locked in a bitter dispute with its largest labour union.
• ASHMORE: Ashmore ASHM.L reported an $8 billion fall in assets under management for the September quarter, as investors remained risk-averse amid geopolitical risks and rising recession fears.
• VISTRY: Vistry Group Plc VTYV.L said Tim Lawlor will join the house-builder as its next chief financial officer(CFO).
• REVOLUTION BEAUTY: Revolution Beauty Group REVB.L said Executive Chairman Tom Allsworth and Chief Executive Officer Adam Minto have agreed to step away from the day-to-day management to allow them to support an independent probe.
• RIO TINTO: SailingStone Capital Partners, the fifth-biggest investor in Turquoise Hill Resources Ltd TRQ.TO , said it will vote against Rio Tinto Group's (RIO) RIO.L bid to buy the company for $3.3 billion, during a shareholder meeting on Nov. 1.
• SHELL: Shell Energy Australia, Shell Plc's SHEL.L renewable energy business in the country, and AMPYR Australia (AMPYR) signed an agreement to develop a battery energy storage system, the companies said.
• AMIGO: Amigo Holdings Plc AMGO.L has received approval from Britain's financial regulator to return to lending under certain conditions, the company said on Thursday, nearly two years after it ceased lending.
• GOLD: Gold prices ticked higher, helped by a pullback in the U.S. dollar and Treasury yields.
• OIL: Oil prices reversed earlier losses and inched up in Asian trade, supported by a weaker U.S. dollar and as diesel inventories fell.
