I think its sad mainly because it represents misdirected energy. I like to think of myself as caring for the environment but I think the road to good environmental outcomes is paved with science, evidence and rational thinking. Some of what we get from from the environmental movement is well intentioned but poorly thought through which means environmentalists sometime end up working against their stated aims. Of course they are often so self righteous and strident in their views that its hard to take, so people respond in kind and rail against them.

Mind you, large companies and governments have so often lied about the outcomes of their decisions that it not entirely unreasonable for environmentalists to kick up - from their point of view both govenrments and corporates "have form" and are not to be trusted.

I bear EV no ill will but I do wish the peak environmental organisations would get their direction from rational heads rather than the crystals and homeopathy brigade.
